Away Game: Youth Sports Conference
Away Game – A Christian Parent’s Guide to Navigating Youth Sports is a powerful one-evening youth sports conference designed to help parents, coaches, and grandparents see sports through a deeper, faith-shaping lens.
Based on the book Away Game by Brian Smith and Ed Uszynski, this two-session event takes place Friday, March 6, from 6:30–8:45pm (doors open at 6:15pm) at Centerville Community Church. As parents, it’s easy to become consumed with our kids’ physical development while missing the incredible opportunities sports provide for spiritual growth. Away Game challenges and equips us to be more than spectators on the sidelines of our children’s spiritual lives. During the conference, you’ll learn how to leverage sports as a platform for biblical values, spark faith-based conversations around pressure, failure, and teamwork, strengthen relationships through car-ride and post-game moments, counter the toxic elements of today’s youth sports culture with kingdom virtues like humility, self-control, and peace, and keep joy, play, and gratitude at the center of your child’s athletic journey.
Whether you coach youth, middle school, high school, or college athletes—or you’re a parent or grandparent navigating the youth sports world, this conference is for you. The event is FREE of charge, and we invite you to consider bringing a non-perishable food item to bless families in our community through First Dawn Food Pantry.
We'll see you there!
